New Florida Gators wide receivers coach Joker Phillips appears to have gotten the knack for grabbing the attention of fans and potential recruits with his brilliant yet bizarre forays into the use of social media.
In late March, Phillips played upon his nickname with a creepy tweet featuring a Photoshop of Heath Ledger’s portrayal of Joker with the hashtag “#ComePlayWRforTheJoker” (above).
And he was only getting started with the madcap social media madness.
Among some of his other hits was this one, which uses Jack Nicholson’s turn as Joker to get the message out:

Phillips continued the online onslaught with an additional Joker-themed Photoshop:
Which inspired Gators offensive coordinator Brent Pease to get in on the action with a Photoshop homage to “Top Gun”:
And on Thursday, Joker Phillips hit the mother lode with this fantastic Pac-Man-themed image:

And a larger image to better illustrate all that is going on in Joker Phillips’ apparent Pac-Man Fever-addled mind:
Of course, the ever-present “#ComePlayWRForTheJoker” hashtag is there, and the classic video game has been renamed “Gator-Man” with the tagline, “Only Gators Get Out Alive.” The ghosts of course represent either SEC rivals or opponents on Florida’s upcoming 2013 schedule.
Fantastic. What’s next for Joker Phillips? More Photoshop hilarity? Further oddball pop culture references? Leaving Joker cards outside the front doors of potential wide receiving recruits? Actually, that would be a bad idea. Pass on that last one, Joker.
