Bench-clearing brawl erupts following Canadian junior hockey game (video)
A massive, bench-clearing brawl broke out following a highly contested match-up between the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada and the Baie-Comeau Drakkar (Like the cologne? No, it apparently means “Viking Ship”) on Wednesday night. Just as the final horn sounded following the Armada’s 4-3 win over Drakkar in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) playoff action, the rink erupted in a savage scene of on-ice ultraviolence.
There were one-on-one displays of fisticuffs, multiple player scrums and overall random acts of assorted pandemonium breaking loose all over the ice. Something rarely seen in the kinder and gentler National Hockey League we have come to know and love.
Watch the epic battle unfold on the ice like it is some kind of frozen medieval battlefield:
Sacre bleu! The goalies even got in on the action.
Here’s a rundown of all the penalties that were assessed following the melee mayhem:
Thank goodness the game was over. I don’t know how all those guys would have fit in the penalty boxes. Although there were a lot of game misconducts sprinkled in there among the fighting majors, so that would have lightened the penalty box load.
