Fan at Astros-Mariners game catches foul ball in cup, proceeds to slam beer (video)
During the bottom of the 8th inning of the game between the Houston Astros and Seattle Mariners at Safeco Field on Wednesday night, a fan flashed some sweet catching skills in capturing a foul ball off the bat of Mariners first baseman Justin Smoak.
With the ball descending down on him, the young man utilized the only thing he had in his possession that could be used in place of a glove, something he thankfully did not have on him as grown men should never bring gloves to games: His beer cup.
With his pals jockeying for position under the foul ball, he snatched the ball out of their respective clutches by catching it his glass. And then, without any regard for the dirty ball floating in his cup of suds, proceeded to slam his beer in classic brewski-slugging fashion.
Kudos, good sir. That’s how you do it. Although at the ridiculous prices of beers at ball games, I have to dock a few points off his beer-swilling exhibition score for wasting so much of that sweet, precious liquid of intoxicating goodness.
