Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask loses his mind, wipes out after shootout loss (video)
It was a frustrating evening for the Boston Bruins in its tilt against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday at the TD Garden. The hometown team blew a two-goal lead in the third period with Andrei Markov capping the Habs’ comeback by scoring with 8.2 seconds left in regulation to tie the game 5-5. After a scoreless overtime, the Bruins ultimately lost to the Montreal Canadiens by a score of 6-5 in the shootout.
Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask gave up the lone goal in the shootout in the sixth round of the glorified skills competition that determines the outcomes of NHL games tied after an overtime, as Brendan Gallagher’s shot found the back of the net, securing sole possession of first place in the Northeast Division for the Canadiens.
To add insult to injury, and as plainly evident given his reaction following his giving up the shootout goal, Rask was none too happy about the outcome of the game. As he made his way to the bench, Rask angrily slammed his stick into the boards near the bench in an attempt to break it. To make matters worse, the angry outburst caused the irate goaltender to wipe out, as Rask went down on his rear before scrambling back up and storming back to the locker room.
The unfortunate spill by Rask:
Ouch. That’s a shame.
Rask’s postgame comments indicate that he believed that a big win over the rival Canadiens just wasn’t in the cards for the Bruins on this night:
Interesting. As enlightening as Rask’s comments were, they were boring. How about we close this out with a GIF of his frustration-inspired wipeout?
Ha. Much better.
