NASCAR fan’s obituary states deceased man went to be with Dale Earnhardt

Dale-Earnhardt-23

Obviously, NASCAR fans are just like every other fan of every other sport (if auto racing should in fact be actually considered a sport, but that’s another debate for another time): Dedicated, loyal and often live and die along with the highs and lows of how their favorite team, athlete, etc. is performing.

You can count Timothy Wayne “Tim” Hopkins, 54, among those individuals who clearly takes his NASCAR fandom — and more specifically, his devotion to Dale Earnhardt, who of course tragically perished after a crash during the 2001 Daytona 500 — along with him to the grave.

Below is how the obituary for the dearly departed Hopkins opens (via Northeast Mississippi Daily Journal):

“Timothy Wayne “Tim” Hopkins, 54, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and Dale Earnhardt to contribute his building and painting expertise to the constructing of many heavenly mansions on Saturday, March 23, 2013, in Memphis.”

Huh. Well, at least Jesus was mentioned before Dale Earnhardt, I guess. That’s something.
