Pic of sparsely populated Boston College student section is misleading (photo)

On Tuesday night, the Boston College Eagles hosted the Maryland Terrapins at the Conte Forum. The above photo of a sparsely populated student section has been making the rounds on the interwebs on Tuesday and is being utilized as a means to condemn the student body at Boston College for its lackadaisical support for the basketball program.

But the photo is somewhat misleading in that the student section at Conte Forum is split in two, with seats available for students behind each basket, and another photo from Boston College’s Facebook page shows that at least some students did in fact attend the game, only most of them chose to sit behind the other basket, as evidenced below:

Nevertheless, one cannot classify the support of Boston College’s students for its basketball team as rabid by any stretch of the imagination. Being a woeful 12-14 on the season, including 4-9 in the ACC might have something to do with it.

And seriously, what’s up with the one guy in the one student section? Is he a loner (Dottie), a rebel? Body odor issues? Marches to the beat of his own drum? Just one of those guys who always has to be different? Hard to say.

Way to go BC. The only student section in modern day history to be given worse than obstructed view. And for who? Any one ever seen the alumni rise for a big shot? They sit and clap like an opera show. Great planning
