Blake Griffin is a good slam dunker of the basketball. There. I said it. The Los Angeles Clippers visited the Wells Fargo Center on Monday night to face the Philadelphia 76ers. And as the Clippers are wont to do, they put on an absurd dunking clinic en route to a 107-90 victory over the helpless Sixers, who could only stand by and watch as the Clippers dunked and dunked and dunked some more.
But perhaps the most impressive dipsy-do, dunk-a-roo from Monday night’s Slam Fest was one thrown down by Blake Griffin. With the Clippers holding a commanding lead about midway through the third quarter, Griffin was on the left post after being on the receiving end of a terrific bounce pass from Chris Paul after a pick-and-roll. With an essentially clear path to the bucket, save for Spencer Hawes coming across the lane to contest (good luck with all that), we should all know by now what was about to happen.
BOOMSHAKALAKA! With the ball starting off in his right hand, Griffin puts the ball on the floor before elevating. While appearing to hover in midair, Griffin switches the ball to his left before throwing it down with vicious authority.
Griffin finished with a decent statistical night — 20 points, 9 boards and 5 assists — but none of his plays on the court were as spectacular as the savage, rim-rocking violence he unleashed in the above video.
