I smell sitcom! A-Rod, Jeter reportedly interested in same apartment (pics)
In a bizarre twist, New York Yankees teammates Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter reportedly are both interested in the same New York apartment.
Located on the upper end of Central Park in Harlem, the New York Post reports that the lavish piece of property is going for $9 million, occupies the entire 17th floor of the 111 Central Park North building. The apartment is also available for rent if ownership isn’t an objective. The price? Only $23,500 per month. That’s nothing. Both the purchase price and rental price are chump change for the likes of Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter.
The property, as described by the New York Post:
It’s owned by developer Rodney Propp, who bought and designed the 5,400-square-foot condo for then-wife Eleanor in 2007. The two have since divorced.
The six-bedroom, 6 1/2-bathroom condo has 100 feet of terraces and unobstructed views of the park all the way to Midtown. Plus, it’s about a 10-minute drive to Yankee Stadium and comes, Propp says, with a paparazzi-proof parking garage. The condo also boasts lots of entertaining space, including an oversized family room and an eat-in kitchen with Viking appliances including two big refrigerators, two dishwashers and a six-burner stove. The home also has separate bedroom wings with lots of walk in closets and “spa-like” baths.
Sounds grand. And here’s a look-see at the extravagant pad:
Now that’s living, folks.
But in the end, if it is true that both A-Rod and Jeter are motivated buyers or prospective renters of the spacious, spectacular property, there’s no reason for any hard feelings between the two teammates. It wouldn’t do anyone a bit of good to have one of them end up all butthurt over feeling slighted over something like a real estate deal. That’s I would propose that the two become roommates. Although I’m not sure if Jeter would be too keen about A-Rod hanging up centaur paintings. But alas.
Seriously, think about it. How awesome would it be if the two became roomies? It would be like The Odd Couple. Jeter would be the lady-killing, sloppy roommate, always leaving a mess. And A-Rod would be the neat freak, obsessing over cleanliness and neatness and always going on and on about how paranoid he is that Major League Baseball and the New York Yankees are involved in some sick and twisted conspiracy against him. Put those two together and I smell sitcom! Or a truly bizarre reality show.
