Sacramento Kings big man and renowned loose cannon DeMarcus Cousins was ejected from Monday night’s game against the Utah Jazz at halftime for some words he elected to use while exchanging not-so-pleasant pleasantries with members of the officiating crew.
As the two teams headed to the locker rooms after the conclusion of the second quarter, Cousins, arguing with a referee, reportedly told the ref to stop acting like a “[bleeping] female.” Said regrettable affront alluding to the relative absence of any masculinity in the referee resulted in Cousins receiving his second technical foul of the game and an automatic ejection, meaning he would not be returning to the court come the beginning of the third quarter.
DeMarcus Cousins is turning his brief NBA career into a travesty of unrealized potential with the absurd frequency of these kind of harebrained antics, which have been well-documented and oft-discussed. Sooner or later his tremendous potential as a player will be outshone by immature and impulsive acts such as the incident on Monday night. If they haven’t begun to outshine that potential already.
