Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher A.J. Burnett breaks window playing catch (photo)
A.J. Burnett is coming off a pretty good season on the mound. The pitcher started 31 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates, going 16-10 in a campaign that saw him pitch over 200 innings and finishing with a more-than-respectable 3.51 ERA.
It appears that Burnett must have been initiating the early stages of loosening up his arm in anticipation of spring training recently, perhaps by tossing the ball around his yard. It also appears that something went awry during the pitch-and-catch session, as evidenced by a photo Burnett uploaded to the interwebs via his Twitter account on Friday.
Yep, much like a kid playing catch, even major league ballplayers are capable of breaking a window with an errant throw.
Burnett tweeted, “Back to back throws through window in garage. Somethings never change!!
Wait. Back-to-back throws? Didn’t he learn anything from the first one? Apparently, unlike the aforementioned kid who busts a window in his or her own home, or even worse, smashing out a window pane in the house of a curmudgeonly old neighbor, Burnett didn’t need to make a quick getaway from the scene of the crime. I guess it being his own home changed the circumstances a bit, not to mention the millions of dollars he earns every year. That helps.
