Browns PR Josh Cribbs knocked out, leaves game after hit to helmet (video)
A scary moment occurred early on during Thursday night’s Baltimore Ravens-Cleveland Browns game: During a punt return late in the first quarter, Josh Cribbs was destroyed by a vicious hit courtesy of Ravens linebacker Dannell Ellerbe.
While it wasn’t a helmet-to-helmet hit, Ellerbe’s shoulder pad caught Cribbs straight on the side of the helmet, knocking it off as Cribbs crumbled to the turf.
The brutal hit separated the ball from Cribbs, a fumble which the Ravens recovered. While a penalty wasn’t called on the initial shoulder-to-helmet hit on Cribbs, but personal fouls were called on both Browns cornerback Johnson Bademosi and Ravens safety James Ihedigbo for a little dust-up following the play.
Thankfully, Cribbs eventually got up and walked off the field under his own power. Cribbs reportedly underwent a concussion test on the sideline and told trainers he was okay before being taken back to the locker room, although the Browns stated Cribbs would not return to the game due to a head injury. Good call.
