‘Fra-gee-lay’: Cleveland Cavs to give away ‘A Christmas Story’ Bobble Leg Lamp (pic)
The Cleveland Cavaliers face the Chicago Bulls on Dec. 5, and while having the Bulls come to town is a decent enough event, the giveaway the Cavs have lined up might be perhaps the most genius variation of the “Bobblehead” giveaway phenomenon that has ever happened.
Details are sketchy at this time, but on Tuesday, the Cleveland Cavaliers did announce the team’s promotional schedule for the 2012-13 season in its entirety (side note: Dec. 21 brings “Mayan Calendar Survivors Night” to Quicken Loans Arena, another stroke of promotional genius). And on one very special day, the team will give away a collectible paying tribute to the preeminent prop from the iconic Christmas/holiday movie when “A Christmas Story Bobble Leg Lamp Giveaway presented by KeyBank” takes place on Dec. 5. Brilliant.
Publicity photo of the collectible follows.
Fantastic. Look at the craftsmanship. That must be Italian. And you didn’t hear it from me, but in honor of A Christmas Story, the first 100 fans who get their tongues stuck to a flagpole outside the arena will get one of their eyes shot out by an arena employee armed with a Red Rider BB Gun.
