Members of Nationals bullpen read passages from ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ (video)
The book Fifty Shades of Grey, written by E.L. James, has taken the literary world by storm. Like many of you who spend their time perusing blogs, assorted sports-related websites and Game Of Thrones fanfic sites (just me?), I have not read the erotic bestseller yet — and let’s be honest, I likely will never read it — and after hearing members of the Washington Nationals bullpen read excerpts from the book, I’m even more sure that the novel is not up my literary alley.
Wait. Up my literary alley? That sounds almost perverse, like something a oversexed bookworm might say, which I suppose is fitting in light of the subject matter of the novel. But I digress.
The setup for the amusing video from MLB Fan Cave centers around the story that Nationals player Michael Morse recently admitted he was reading Fifty Shades of Grey. Well, to put it more accurately, it was read to him by his fiancée, which I suppose makes it more understandable (bow-chick-a-bow-wow).
So, some of Morse’s Nationals teammates — relief pitchers Sean Burnett, Ryan Mattheus, Tyler Clippard and Craig Stammen — took turns reading sultry passages from the sexy novel.
I don’t know, man, hearing Ryan Mattheus utter the words “My inner goddess is beside herself,” over the pseudo-porno film background music, well, it’s just plain weird. To paraphrase what the fellas say at the end of the video, I’m so ready to watch baseball.
