Kim Kardashian apparently took a shine to Robert Griffin III during a ’30 Rock’ taping

During a recent appearance on a Rich Eisen podcast, 30 Rock executive producer Jack Burditt spun a yarn about an interaction he had with Kim Kardashian during the live taping of the NBC show’s season finale.

Robert Griffin III, in New York for the NFL Draft, was able to make it to the 11:30 p.m. West Coast taping. Also there: Kim K., who, according to Burditt, took a shine to the then-upcoming second overall pick by the Washington Redskins.

It goes without saying that even the most trivial connection made between Kardashian and the quarterback would not be good news for RG3 and should send Washington Redskins fans into a state of catastrophic panic. For obvious reasons.

Granted, the “reality star” is currently hooking up with Kanye West, but that shouldn’t take away from the how close of a call this might have been, nor should it be taken lightly, given Kardashian’s evident whimsical and spontaneous nature as it relates to her romantic life.

But let’s allow Burditt to tell the tale:

“She sat next to me while we were watching the show on the monitor and RGIII is a few seats down, and during the commercial break she starts asking me questions about him,” Burditt said on the podcast. “Like, ‘Now he’s a football player, right?’ I’m like, yeah, yeah, yeah. And [Kardashian asks] ‘And he just…something big happened, right?’ And I’m like, well yeah, he just was the No. 2 overall pick tonight. [Kardashian asks] ‘And what team?’ Washington. [Kardashian asks] ‘What’s Washington?’ Redskins. She goes, ‘I don’t know much about football, but, so what’s his deal?’ And I’m thinking, you stay away from him. This is a nice young man.”

Burdett also said about the dimwitted Kardashian: “She wasn’t quite sure who he was,” adding, “[b]ut her inner alarm was going off.”

Whew. That was a close call. I can only imagine the chills shooting up and down Redskins fans spines just by reading that account.

As District of Columbia-centric blog D.C. Sports Bog astutely points out, the Redskins organization and its fans owe this man a debt of gratitude for running interference on behalf of RG3. One shudders to think how that woman could derail this young man’s promising NFL career.
