Washington Redskins linebacker Brian Orakpo hosted the Leukemia and Lymphoma Golf Classic at Trump National in Sterling, Va. earlier this month, and as expected, many of his teammates and coaches showed up to help out with a great cause. The usual shenanigans and awkward swings that typify charity golf tournaments where folks not well-skilled in the sport of golf ensued, but perhaps the most entertaining — and in this case, potentially career-threatening — came when offensive lineman Trent Williams stepped into the tee box.
With an iron in his hand, Williams reared back with a mighty swing that can only be characterized as Bizarro World Textbook, and after reaching the apex of his backswing, brought the club down mightily. That’s where things get a little crazy.
Williams whiffs on the ball completely and the momentum of his body spins him around violently, putting an incredible amount of force upon his left knee, which twists and contorts and bends in a most unfortunate manner.
Thankfully, Williams appears no worse for wear, save for the hit his ego must have took having his teammates watch nearly blow out his knee during a terrible golf shot.
Williams demonstration of how not to hit a golf ball begins at about the 1:10 mark of the video, and believe you me, it is a sight to behold. Crap, even swing-challenged hacker Charles Barkley would say that swing was turrible.
