Carmelo Anthony-Lionel Richie parody: ‘Melo (Is It Three You’re Looking For?)’ (vid)
If you’re anything like me, you have been wondering for years now when some wisenheimer would finally take advantage of the soother sounds of the classic Lionel Richie ballad, “Hello” and write a parody song about Carmelo Anthony. I mean, the New York Knicks superstar goes by “Melo,” for crying out loud, which rhymes perfectly with the title of the song. It’s a no-brainer, really.
And the lyrics, “Melo, is it three you’re looking for?” are perfect. Just a solid demonstration of witty parody song writing. And don’t even get me started on the voice of the singer performing the song. Obviously aware that it would be tremendously difficult to match Mr. Lionel Richie’s singing prowess, this guy goes in the complete opposite direction with his vocalizations, singing the song in a raspy tone that is off-putting and entrancing all at the same time.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go take a gander at a blind woman’s disturbingly grotesque sculpture of my head. The effort is there, it’s just the talent that’s lacking.
