Tim Tebow may be a mediocre quarterback, but he’s a terrible fundraiser
Denver Broncos quarterback (for now) Tim Tebow made a whirlwind tour of several Montana towns recently and was in Butte as part of a fundraising event for Habitat for Humanity. And while the superstar was graciously received , the presence of Tebow — at least in the city of Butte — did not raise the amount of money initially hoped for or expected.
Approximately 2,500 people showed up at the the Butte’s Civic Center last week to see the man, the myth, the legend — somewhat under-attended, according to KRTV.com — but local business owner Michael Burk said the event fell well short of its original goal of raising $100,000 to help build a Habitat for Humanity Home. In fact, only $12,000 was raised.
The snarky tone of the title of this post notwithstanding — couldn’t help myself — at least Tebow is out there, spending a lot of his valuable time trying to make a difference. And for that, he should be commended. But come on, Butte-ians, you have to dig deep to make a difference. Tebow came all the way to your town to raise some much-needed funds for Habitat for Humanity and $12,000 was all his showing up could generate?
