Discounted Lin merchandise at NY store signals death knell for Linsanity (photo)

One minute you’re on top of the world, the next minute peel-and-stick tattoos bearing your jersey number are marked 50% off at a store in Times Square. What a fickle mistress fame can be. Particularly in New York. Now hipsters in New York will only purchase Jeremy Lin’s New York Knicks jersey for the irony of it all.

It was a good run, Jeremy Lin. Hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.

Linsanity was ridiculous. Having a few good games doesn’t make you a great player. Having a few bad ones doesn’t make you a poor one either. Lets see how he plays in the next couple of years before jumping on or off the bandwagon.

He didn’t ask to have all this attention. Certain people made it ridiculous. All he did was be ready when his named was called and he delivered. He proved that he is worthy of playing in the NBA. I think he will work hard to be even better and if it doesn’t work out…well it didn’t.

a player who led the team and won seven games consecutively must be a star… take it from there, phenomenal.

And New Yorkers can’t figure out why no one likes them and why the really good athletes don’t want to play there. Gotta love a good mystery….

Lin has settled down. I don’t think anyone expected him to average 25 points, 15 assists and 5 rebounds. He’s not that player. He’s settled into about 14-20 points 10 or so assists and a few rebounds. He does turn the ball over a lot and I can’t figure out why he can’t stay on his feet, he’s always falling driving across the paint…is the floor always that wet? No other guard seems to fall with the frequency he does.

He’s an average point guard who’s game (attacking the basket) is consistent. That’s what you want from him. It’s the other players, who need to adjust. Maybe if Melo and A’Mare play some defense.

Jeremy is an awesome player. Everyone seems to forget that he is new and without experience. Give him a few years and watch out!

Hey guys! you cant compare him to the elite. One article compares him to Williams when D. Will scored 37 but he still got a good game. HE was comapred to rose when he scored 14 and 8 assts but Rose had 37 and 7 assts (man he is the reigning MWV). Before that Rondo.. come on guys… be reasonable… he played good games but this PGs are the elite… As long as he contriubutes about 15pts and 7 assts per game. He is ok… THE EGOs ARE THEONE WHO SHOULD START PLAYING ON BOTH ENDS AND NOT THE RESERVES…

I don’t think Linsanity was ridiculous. It had to happen. Even Jeremy accepted that he would one day start missing shots. Is the fault of the media in New York. They overexposed the kid. Jeremy is a great point guard and he turns the ball over as frequent as Derrick Rose, Steve Nash, and many other point guards in the league. I don’t see them talking so much about these players? With time Jeremy will keep on shining.

Lin didnt ask for Linsanity he was just a player trying hard to stay with the NY Knicks, Lin will always be success story for one simple reason he made the NBA. He never said he was on the same level as a Derrick Rose ESPN did that but don’t worry Lin in my eyes you made it. Keep playing player

Good call Uri, people from New York over compensate and exaggerate everything they do( I live in NY, Brooklyn to be exact), love the sceneray, but many of the people are 1 brain cell short from riding the little yellow bus for life. Face it people, the management in NY suckz and the media got these people living under some sort of delusion believing a dude like Jeremy Lin is the answer to their problems. Granted Jeremy didn’t ask for the attention, but he definently did not deserve it either. Unfortunately, the media used him to market merchandise and the NBA.

Fact is NY beat mediocore teams when they were on their short lived winning streak, now that reality has setteled in, people see the situation in NY for what it truly is: Lin a mediocore PG on his best day, and the inability of D’Anotoni’s (misspelled)coaching style to win games let alone championships, and the Big 3 on their team not geling well.

Yeah the Lakers and Mavericks are mediocore teams that he put up mediocore numbers against. You’re an idiot.

You had better stock up now before it starts getting expensive again. Linsanity will probably be added to the dictionary and it is a privilege for us all to be part of this era! Jeremy Lin is just a person who didn’t ask for any of this. He’s a person who had a goal, who followed his passion with the work ethic we should all strive to have, and achieved it despite the now known odds. For that, he has inspired the whole freakin’ world in all different fields of work! How can you not feel inspired??!! There’s an underdog in every single one of us. Lastly, Linsanity has made ALL NBA players better. They are working harder than they would have had they never known about a Jeremy Lin. They are trying to outdo him and the other teams that have “outdone” him…whatever that means. For that, he has made the NBA better. Thanks Jeremy Lin for all that you have done intentionally and unintentionally! Don’t pay attention to the media…except maybe for this piece. :)

An one more thing….by virtue of hearing, seeing, writing, tasting, smelling, thinking, eating or touching the word “linsanity” i would say it’s here to stay. My point: stock up folks!

Jeremy Lin will not what Linsanity is meant to be. For God’s sake we are celebrating when he scores 19 points in a game, there are 22 players that average more than that a game. Jermey Lin is who I liken to John Lucas III. John Lucas started one game this year and had 25-8-8. He played heavy minutes against the Heat (including taking LBJ in the post) and won with 24 points. No one talks about him because at the end of the day he is the 3rd string PG of the Bulls. Jeremy Lin is not yet a starting PG, Dantoni even stated that the second team (Baron Davis) routinely beat the first team in practice (Jeremy Lin). He will be a solid bench contributor in the NBA and you will be selling Linsanity posters out of your garage!

Jeremy Lin is playing the first serious minutes of his very young NBA career. I see so many posters judging him as though he’s done developing. Get over yourself!
So far, I am impressed, and at the very least intrigued to see what the future has in store for the new starter!
Seems to me like some seeeerious NYC-envy. Y’all can’t deal with living in crap parts of the USA with no culture? Sorry!

I am not sure why the hating on Jeremy Lin now… Why can’t anyone be positive about it? In reality, Jeremy Lin is in his rookie season, and he wasn’t properly prepare and being teach how to play consistent NBA games.. So, give the guy a break.. Its absurd that people start to jump off Lin’s bandwagon.. Jeremy Lin is not a super-star, which himself never proclaim he is, its the media that does all the hyping, so all the Lin-Haters out there should just chill…

      March 28, 2012 at 12:55 pm

      Amen!!!

Take a chill pill people. He was as good as a rookie that no one believes in. Dont compare him with the elite, compare him with other rookies that had started far more games than he does. He will be good in couple years.

I think the media should check themselves what they want to write something to tear someone down !

Jeremy Lin has shown he has tried hard to play good basketball games with the Knicks ! It is the team needs to get the acts together as a team ! Of course, the coach had a lot to do with what happened these last two weeks !

Besides, he is a new member in the team ! Why can you media have the grace and give him a chance ?

    Be fair !

Give him a break and give yourselves a chance to have some integrity !

Jeremy Lin is such a talented player. Just within 2 weeks of his play time, he created such a phenomenon show. He will be a great player in just a couple of years. We just need to wait and see.

How can you not like this kid, he sparked a Knick team like nobody has in 40 or so years, just watching him makes you smile. He’s a good ball player, and going to get better. The people that don’t like him are not Knick fans, easy to hate a good guy on the other team.

    March 19, 2012 at 3:50 pm

He never asked for any of this in the first place. He told the media not to pay too much attention to him and instead focus on other players. People in NYC were sick and tired of seeing Knicks lose year after year. They were desperate for somebody great to lead the Knicks. Jeremy Lin worked hard and was ready to go and he delivered when asked to start. I’m sick of hearing how those teams that the Knicks beat when Lin was playing were just mediocre. Lin scored 38 points when they beat the Lakers and Kobe was playing. So I suppose Kobe and the Lakers suck too? And who would expect this Linsanity thing to last forever? This is very similar to the stock market. When a stock gets hot and every analyst gives a buy recommendation, distribution begins as latecomers buy with both hands and feet and then the stock drops day after day. Just like Linsanity, Apple stock will come back to earth.

linsanity will stay in a lot of people’s mind. It will never go away. It’s not about a person, it’ about a strong spirit, inspiration, confidensce and as along as you tried, you will succeed. Jeremy Lin represents that very well. He made Knicks team much better, want to win. He made teamwork spirit, not only one person. That linsanity spirit will stay here and the whole world no one can beat it down. Some elite players can make Lin lose, humiliate him but they can never put his spirit away. He is much better now than before. He helped the team win so many times recently. So he is a star. Don’t be jealousy of his talents and big heart personalty. Only those so called elite players want to revenge him, for Lin, he doesn’t care, it’ a learning process. It will him better and better.

Come on people…..Linsanity was a temporary situation and should be exactly that. Now we are seeing ther carreer of an NBA player play out as he develops and realises his potential. Linsanity gave him the initial attrention. Now he is making use of it. Go Jeremy Lin!!!
