Indians 2B Jason Kipnis sings Adele’s ‘Someone Like You’ during game (video)

If you haven’t heard, there’s this singer that’s beginning to attract the attention of the music-listening masses as of late. Her name is Adele and while I’m no music industry bigwig like Boz Scaggs or David Cassidy, allow me to be the first to put out there that there’s a pretty decent chance this Adele gal might be the next big thing, so if I were you, I’d keep an eye on her.

One person who is way out in front of the coming Adele phenomenon is Cleveland Indians second baseman Jason Kipnis. As you can see from the footage above recorded during a recent spring training game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Kipnis entertains himself by mumbling lines from a song I assure you will one day be a modest hit: “Someone Like You.” This guy is with it, man. Prematurely hip to what all the kids will be listening soon enough.

And to top it off, the guy has a decent voice. He just needs to work on his enunciation a bit. Make sure the folks can understand the words that you’re singing, I say.

Get with the times buddy. Adele just cleaned house at the Grammys. She’s already a big deal and that song has been on the radio for months. See below:

“Since its release, “Someone Like You” has become a global number one hit. It has achieved commercial success by topping the charts in Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, Finland, France, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as reaching the top ten in many other countries.”

Have you been sleeping in a cave for the past 2 years?

I don’t know who you are or what your motivation is for making these outlandish allegations, but I can say with complete certainty that these “Grammys” you refer to are a complete figment of your imagination.

Also, if you are having difficulty removing the hook from your mouth, might I suggest a pair of pliers as a means to extract it.
