Back Page Of New York Post Features Eli Manning As Rambo (Pic)
“Hunting? We ain’t huntin’ him. He’s huntin’ us!”
Yes, I am aware that the line above is from First Blood and not Rambo: First Blood, Part II but that aside, the following is a certifiable fact:
That. Is. Awesome.
The NFL playoffs appear to elicit the best efforts by the folks who come up with ideas for the covers of the New York Post. Just last year, they knocked it out of the park with the Star Wars-themed “Return of the Jet-i” for the New England Patriots-New York Jets playoff showdown.
Well, the Post has one-upped itself with this brilliant Photoshop depicting New York Giants quarterback portraying John Rambo for “Rambeau II” with the subhead, “Eli drew first blood in ’08 and now he’s coming back for more,” obviously in reference to the Giants’ 23-20 overtime victory over the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau (get it? Rambeau) Field which left us with this disturbing image of a red-faced Tom Coughlin. Good times.
It remains to be seen if Eli can harness his inner Rambo this coming Sunday in the NFC Divisional Playoffs in Green Bay and treat Packers defensive backs like they were hostile combatants holding American POWs. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
But overall, simply a wonderful piece of Photoshoppery by the New York Post. And the use of Eli’s Manningface is the kicker that puts it “Over the Top.” /additional Sly Stallone reference
