Sad news to report from the world of pro athletes dating hot chicks: word on the street is that sexy nerdy girl Olivia Munn has dumped New York Rangers star Brad Richards. I know, I know, I too thought these crazy kids had a chance to make it, given that Munn was looked upon by Rangers fans as something of a “good luck charm”. But sadly, it was not to be. And it’s not like they have been together long, reportedly having only been together since last November, but they were magical months, I imagine.

From a hard-hitting article from Us Weekly (via the New York Post):

“She ended it with him,” a source tells Us. “She had to. It’s not really complicated. She just realized she liked him as a friend and nothing more.”

Not complicated? Not complicated? Try telling how uncomplicated this all is to the presumably lovesick Richards. Tears on his pillow, and so an so forth. Okay, probably not. While she is a sexy bird, I assume Richards will somehow pick up the pieces and end up in the arms of another sultry starlet before long. Oh, and something something the Rangers and Richards will continue to play well something something sports sports stuff commentary blah blah blah.

One last note regarding the Post‘s write-up about the breakup: later in the piece, it mentions that “the Rangers had already come to think of the ‘Parks and Recreation’ actress as a good luck charm after a winning streak.”

Wait. What? Parks and Recreation? Come on, man. The closest Munn has ever been to sniffing a hit comedy on NBC was the awful Perfect Couples, which honestly, I kind of enjoyed, only because of Munn’s presence as well as the gal who plays The Waitress on It’s Always Sunny. Still, come on, New York Post. You guys are better than that. They must have confused the lovely Munn with the equally attractive Aubrey Plaza. Now there’s a pair of gorgeous and funny young ladies.
