No! Athletes At N.Y. High School Suspended For Tebowing In School Hallway
ByWait. What? In the latest example of Tebowmania having gone completely off the cliff and free-falling into abject absurdity — seriously, is this what it was like when The Beatles landed on Plymouth Rock during the British Invasion (I might be mixing up historical events a bit there) — a group of athletes at a Long Island high school have been suspended — no, not for completely inappropriate and disgusting hazing rituals or for drug and alcohol use — for the heinous act of Tebowing. Will somebody please think of the children?!?!
Connor Carroll, one of the two students suspended by Riverhead (N.Y.) High, said that he, his brother Tyler and classmates Wayne Drexel and Jordan Fulcoly only did the impromptu act of Tebowing “out of respect for Tebow, and because Tebowing is the new thing to do.” Makes sense. And while the two student athletes were the only kids suspended by the school, some 40 students, after seeing the four strike the pose, took part, causing a bit of a traffic jam in the school’s hallway, an apparent violation of the school’s rules. Their leadership in the spontaneous homage to Tebow, along with the fact that they received prior warning, appears to be the reason behind why only the two boys received their respective in-school suspensions.
Said Connor Carroll (via Prep Rally):
“The administration told us that our Tebowing was blocking the halls and could potentially cause a riot, because they were growing in number and if the wrong kid gets pushed a brawl could ensue,” Carroll told Prep Rally. “We had no idea that we could get suspended for such a thing. It was a joke between a group of friends that took a life of its own. We figured at the most we would just be told to stop.”
Seriously, I don’t know what’s crazier: that people are so obsessed with Tebowing or the fact these kids got suspended for doing it. Strange days are upon us friends.
In any event, it is abundantly clear that persecution of the disciples of Tebow hath begun. Remember, Tebowites: They may take your right to engage in Tebowing, but they can’t take…YOUR TEBOWWWWWWWWW!!!

This is amazing. Now you can’t even LOOK like you’re praying in school anymore.
Is it just me, or does a suspension for something these kids could never have anticipated seem more than a little like overkill? Read this again:
“The administration told us that our Tebowing was blocking the halls and could potentially cause a riot, because they were growing in number and if the wrong kid gets pushed a brawl could ensue.”
So the rationale is that a riot MIGHT have happened, or that there could have been a fight if the WRONG kid got pushed. I don’t think we should let these administrators drive cars because, using their logic, they MIGHT cause an accident the next time they’re behind the wheel, or there could be a road rage incident if they change lanes in front of the WRONG driver.
i agree completely.there should be a warning first, then a suspension if they do it again.
See paragraph two. “…along with the fact that they received a warning…,” implies that there was a warning.
wow. i love it when people are so smart they use the facts against themselves.
i smell a lawsuit…how can u ban crouching with your fist on your forehead…but there’s nothing against showing your boxers and sagging your pants…
Unless there is a law that states this is a crime. then the school has suspended kids without legal basis.. Hell they could all be tieing their shoes.. Of course this is what happens when the MEDIA puts a spin on something.. Rightaway it is either great or a criminal offense.. Maybe we should pass a law and lets say make it life in prison.. Of course every Catholic in the world will be gulity, because they/we kneel in church… What a bunch of IDIOTS…
school rules aren’t state laws!
this one is.
Okay–can people who do not know what they are talking about please quit right about now? Students can pray in schools–there is 100% no problem with it, and is why it wouldn’t be surprising if these young men are in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (which is a student organization at many schools along with Youth for Christ). What students cannot do is disrupt school–whether they were goofing around and causing the disruption and blocking a hallway by dancing or fighting or Tebowing, the point is that they blocked the hallway and that they had been warned before. Seriously, they got in-school suspension (which means that they have to sit in school and do their homework in a detention environment)–they didn’t get expelled or punished in any other way. Conversely, there was a girl in the Oklahoma Panhandle who is atheist and from an atheist family–she was expelled for a full year for one bogus reason, and the next year lasted less than a week before being expelled for the school year for (if memory serves) stealing another student’s gym shoes (they were found in her locker–if memory serves–and there’s no reason to believe that they hadn’t been put there by someone else). Simply because students choose to cause disruptions by silly acts like this (they were not praying–they were pulling a prank) does not have any mean that there is religious oppression in the schools–well, not of Christians any way.
pardon my ignorance, but can you tell me what is ‘tebowing’
At a time when my children were in high school it became the in thing for a group of students to gather and have prayer in front of the rest of the students before school started. My question is, why did they have to be seen doing this when they could have just as easily gone off to themselves. Doesn’t the bible even teach going into a closet to pray so as not to appear puffed up as so many were doing with their praying and wailing in the streets?
you are an idiot. Two were suspended for just cause, they were warned. The other two got ISS for creating a disturbance in the education setting. Have you been in a school lately? You have 2000 kids in a building that was designed and built for 1300 students. You have all of the hormones going one student cannot make it to class and now a fight will break out and turn into a brawl. The students got the correct punishment. You are what is wrong with today’s society.
New York Education Law § 2801 Codes of conduct on school property.
* l. a minimum suspension period, for students who repeatedly are substantially disruptive of the educational process.
so yes, you are correct. if 40 students all stopped in the same place at the same time in a crowded hallway to tie their shoes on a regular basis, were told to stop, and continued the activity, it should be no surprise that the instigators were suspended.
there are many places in a public school where one may tebow. a crowded hallway is not one of them. it is daft to think blocking crowded hallways is safe. remember, it was 40+ kids, not two. it was the two that had recieved prior warning to discontinue violating state law and continued tebowing in the hall that got suspended.
do you really find it unlikely that a fight would break out if a large crowd of teenagers was stuck between classes in a crowded hallway? you’ve been out of school too long.
your rationale is a fallacy. it should read thus.
it is common for fights to break out when teenagers are stuck in the hallways, therefore the hallways should be kept clear of any obstacles. it is also unsafe. and yes, they do suspend the licenses of drivers who repeatedly fail to follow the rules of the road.
Seriously, the butthurt in this post is beyond hilarious.
“it is daft to think blocking crowded hallways is safe.”
No, it’s daft to think that two people kneeling in the hallway is causing that serious of a disruption. You must have been absolutely infuriated during the OWS protests.
“it was the two that had recieved prior warning to discontinue violating state law and continued tebowing in the hall that got suspended.”
Please–this had nothing to do with state law, and everything to do with an authoritarian school administration that saw a few kids not act like passive automatons.
“do you really find it unlikely that a fight would break out if a large crowd of teenagers was stuck between classes in a crowded hallway? you’ve been out of school too long.”
LOL at this goonfiction.
“your rationale is a fallacy. it should read thus.”
Your rationale is rather fallacious, itself. Witness your next sentence:
“it is common for fights to break out when teenagers are stuck in the hallways, therefore the hallways should be kept clear of any obstacles.”
Post hoc, ergo propter hoc. “It is common”–Really? You have actual stats to back this up? How often do fights break out in crowded hallways? What degree of “crowdedness” is required for a budding young Gavrilo Princip to set the chain of chaos in motion?
What if they decided to just stop in the hallway and stand there and 40 more people decided to stand there as well. Wait that happens all the time. Clearly the administration has a problem with the act of prayer in school. Again, what if they were tying their shoe or stopping at their locker, they would be taking up the same amount of space. Why don’t they worry about teaching our kids so our country doesn’t continue to slip in in telligence against the rest of the world. Liberalisim is a disease and it must be abolished!
Rules are rules, and they had been warned! if they want to pray or act as if in prayer step off school grounds, thier is a thing called seperation of church and state.
my child should not be subject to prayer in school weather it is in mock or real that is what a church is for.
As a tax payer you should understand this!
so, Russ, do you recall when you were in school? did you say the “Pledge” every day? I did! as I pay taxes too, you may want to look past your own nose to see that “belief” does not stop at the door, it is why we left England to begin with! FREEDOM! get it?
so it is OK to have religious students for their valid religious observance to wear hear coverings, i.e. veil, hijab, khimar, jilbaab, head coverings of other religious beliefs, to wear in schools, but not “tebowing” which you consider religious also. Such bias self righteousness.
as it has been for many years, school administrators only pick the battles they are sure to win, notice they are not fighting appropriate dress or the lack of manners. if young people are allowed to believe and have roll models as we did growing up, that is much better than having no spirit or dreams…lets be real, I would be a parent seeking legal counsel!
WOW… Its a good thing Tebow has a good head on his shoulders otherwise this guy could have a million people drinking some funky Kool-Aid in a matter of days…
Okay people! Lets get a grip! What Tebow is doing is nothing new! I’ve seen from high school, college and professional athletes were doing this way before the media and the public started “The Tebowing” catch phrase. The only reason why this is popular is due to the Broncos come from behind victories! Don’t get me wrong I’m not downing him because of his faith, but the media is taking this a little too far. Again there have been many athletes that has taken a knee and gave praise, before during and after the game.
These children should never have been suspended!!!! that blocking the hall was an excuse to suspend them for praying and if they want to pray , provide an area in which these kids can do that!!!! Young Student if you want to pray Tebow style then do it!!! dont stop just keep praying!!!!! all this hoop lah about Tebow… the guy is living his life and Obeying God’s word and people still find fault in him!!! what is wrong with this picture? at least he has morals, and he has integrity even better!!!! i would rather my son and daughter implement him as a role model than most of the rapist and gun shooting fools on all these other NFL teams!!! Tebow is a positive person in a very negative world let him do his thing and stop being judgemental !!!!!!1
I could not agree more… Very well said…
this TeeBow thing is one thing but if these were my kids. boy they would know what not to do here. these kids are not told to respect other people beliefs and this is just where this country is going. people beter wake up and smell the rosses. we do not teach our children respect for others. just look around us. we see grown men wear there pants down below there hips. wait a min. they are not grown up at all. we beter go back to the basics and wake up america.
Completly agree…
i read most of these comments on TeeBowing and i see just what i said before. that we all know what these kids point was and if they were mine they would know it before this would have happen and they would really know what to expect when they get home. but again it seems people think it is ok for our kids and our grown ups to wear there pants down to there knees and it ok. them kids could have done it privatlly and not showed off in this case. wake up america
I will agree with you here… Had these kids done this because they were being persecuted for their beliefs… OK… But that was not the case… At least I dont think so, I havnt heard anything from the kids as to why they did it… So I dont know…
Listen, it wasn’t about praying. It was about causing a hazard.
First Amendment rights aside you can’t yell “Fire!” in a movie theatre and you can’t joke about bombs when you’re in an airport.
The tebowing caused a safety hazard. Now, did they have rules in place BEFOREHAND about the consequences of causing a disturbance in the hallways?
But this isn’t about tebowing. They’d have likely gotten kicked out had they started a mass planking incident too.
Keep it moving, people!
Every hallway in public High School is blocked by massive overcrowding, Should administrators be suspended as well?
your argument is a fallacy.
big difference between a lot of kids moving from one place to another and a lot of kids NOT being to move from one place to another.
Yeah, right.
Yeah, right, Nick67 that is.
Safety Hazard my hiney!
i’m sorry your hiney is a safety hazard. i suggest more exercise and a better diet.
If they wore their pants around their knees and brought prayer rugs the school the school would probably have thought differently. I live in a town where kids were suspended kids for wearing American flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo. However, THIS IS OUR FAULT. We have too quiet for too long. NO MORE. We need to kick these administrators out for Christiphobia. Denying their first amendment rights and discrimination is cuase for dismissal.
If you are going to post a comment, Please learn how to spell first!!!!
please first learn how to spell, not please learn how to spell the word first.
use perfect grammar before you critique others, i’d say (i sure hope i just did:)
paranoid much?
Paranoid? No, I think its great we have nutcases like you to laugh at. Always puts a smile on my face…
If you look at the picture there is plenty of room for people to go around them, give me a break!!
What these kids are doing is praying it is not and never will be Tebowing. It is a shame these kids were suspended for praying in the hall. It is their civil right as a American to this.I’m proud of these kids and their parents and the rest of the school should take a stand.
Ya sure thats whats happening….they are praying. With what looks like grins on their faces. You friggen Dumbass. The fact is they were told not to do it by authority figures and they still decided to do what they wanted to do. Stupid punk ass kids deserved to get suspended.
if the kids say they were tebowing, they were tebowing. what you have to understand is that what tebow does is a sports ritual known as a touchdown celebration (originally). realizing its mass market media appeal, tebow now does it all the time.
these kids never claimed any infringement on their freedom of religion. they claim their paying homage to tebow. their not saying one word of prayer. their worshipping a false idol.
It is your civil right as an American to be a moron, too. I wouldn’t necessarily be “proud” of it. Kids can pray in school as long as it doesn’t impede learning or infringe on others’ rights. If praying was their intention, all they had to do was scoot over to the wall and go to town. Instead they decided to be cute and it landed their asses in ISS. P.S. Maybe they should “pray” for better haircuts. Yikes.
The fact you are so engrossed by this incident is disturbing… When you are at the mall and someone is in your way do you stand there like an idiot or do you go around? Judging by your responses you’re the idiot that stands there and acts like you’re being persecuted. Get a life… You need help…
Yeah, Mike. I’m engrossed. I’ve commented maybe four times to your 10 or 15. As for the mall, I go around, all the while bitching about how discourteous some people can be. I’m not the one with the persecution complex. I didn’t turn this into a treatise on religion. As far as I’m concerned, this is about a few kids who thought this would be cute and got pissed when they found out others didn’t agree. Now they can accept the consequences and suck it up.
There is not enough information here to determine if the administration over reacted or not. Assuming the students did their “Tebowing” only one time, then the punishment is out of line. The student should have been given a warning plus an alternative. The alternative being something like make sure none of you are in the middle of the hall when you do your “Tebowing.” Assuming the student continued to do their “Tebowing” in the middle of the hall way, then the punishment fits. I do not believe anything here has to do with religion. It is a matter of blocking the hallway between classes. And that folks can and does become a major issue.
The administrators need to get over themselves.
Whatever happened to detention?
Detention requires staff. Staff require funding.
I think the school was totally out of line to suspend them. What idiots! I suppose they were afraid that the ACLU might become involved. It was about religion and I am tired of this kind of reaction. If they were blocking the halls, give them a warning. Suspension was over kill.
Kids present are admitting that it had nothing to do with religion and that they were trying to be silly.
They were warned read the article. The two suspended were warned and they did it again. That is just cause to kick them out.
football is not a religion. they were worshipping a football player. they werent praying. they were striking a pose.
This is my school and I was there. Kids started tebowing everywhere in our school it was hilarious! Nobody thought they would get in trouble, it’s kind of just a trend and they didn’t do anything wrong. What are they even getting in trouble for praying? I do agree to some point that they should have given a warning because it had no religious cause it was just kids trying to be funny. But i can guarantee our senior prank will be hilarious this year !
Pls be sure and YouTube your senior prank. You have way too much great material to work with here!!!!!
I so will!! lol
Too bad for the students they are not Muslim nd facing east – no one would dare interfear with the act. PROBABLY WASN’T HONEST PRAYER. But first time suspension is excessive. Suspend the principal without pay for twice the time the students were suspended and sue him for violating their 1st amandment rights- that will make the principal act with caution. Prayer in school will never be eliminated as long as there are math tests. Sure the hallway shouldn’t havebeen blocked – if students were not endangered by the act – well some might be tardy to class. I know when I was in school every second was a special learning experience- no waste of efficiency and everyone gave their total attention to lectures at all times. Do you believe that crap. ?? Laugh once in a while if a prank causes no harm – then explain to the students that this time they are lucky and give them a simple punishment if you must. Old time ideas such as staying after schhol – writting a paper on why stunts should not occur. Teach something from the event- instead it has become a big time internet event. Big, tough principal rules with an iron fist. But sometimes the natives get restless. A student revolt over this would have occurred in the 1960′s.
Why is this called Tebowing? Is he the first NFL player ever to kneel down and pray befroe , durring or after a game? Come on people get a life!
as you may or may not know, tim tebow is an american football player. while enjoying success at florida university, when others would spike the football, do the chicken dance, or any other touchdown celebration, tim tebow would kneel as if praying (presumably he was—thanking god and jesus for a touchdown). it got the nickname of tebowing, a play on tim bowing. it got popular, and then and now tim tebow tebows all the time. tim asks for gods assistance to win before a football game by tebowing. he thanks god for a big play and touchdowns by tebowing. after he wins he thanks god for the win by tebowing; and after a loss he accepts god’s judgement that he did not deserve to win by tebowing. if his team needs god’s assistance for a big play to win and he’s not involved, he tebows on the sideline. if he is involved he tebows in the huddle. i’m not joking. because of this, kids who have no religous preference think its cute to tebow and pay homage to their god. not the christian god. their praying to tim tebow. it’s dangerous for christians to defend idolatry. i think it would be great if these were saved christians with a strong desire to pray in the middle of the hallway in between class; but even then as a christian parent i would recommend they do so elsewhere.
Wow more faux outrage by the religious right, theres a shocker. This has nothing to do with religion folks, they were blocking a hall which posed a potential danger to students. I agree the suspension is likely a bit to much but get real they werent praying they were making a joke trying to be cool and it caused a nuisance.
“Wow more faux outrage by the religious right, theres a shocker.”
Wow, more inferiority complexes from a sniveling sperglord, there’s a shocker.
“This has nothing to do with religion folks, they were blocking a hall which posed a potential danger to students.”
Yeah, four kids kneeling in the hallway is a “danger.” Good thing it wasn’t *five* kids, or a slapfight might have ensued!
what’s a sperglord? because i think i’m about to be one, and i want to know what the name means that i might be called. it loses its impact otherwise.
what if it was 40 kids? oh wait it was 40 kids. what if next time 120 join in? whether they were tebowing or praying or all tying their shoes, the hallway isnt a good place to do it, and they were stopped. how horrible.
If everyone is kneeling, who is being obstructed? This is a ridiculous power play by the administration. To bust out code of conduct statutes is even more asinine, as hallways are not a part of the “educational process”, merely a pathway to such processes. Why are lockers in the halls? If everyone is at their locker at the same time, which is very common, why isn’t that the same obstruction? People need to get a life already
Will people please stop comparing tebowing(not praying) in the center of the hallway to going to your locker. Lockers are on the walls so they are out of the way and a clear path is made down the center of the hall. f a car stalls out in the middle of the road if affects traffic a lot more than a car stalled on the side of the road.
Not everyone was tebowing 40 kids blocking the 1660 other kids trying to get to class.
“Not everyone was tebowing 40 kids blocking the 1660 other kids trying to get to class.”
All 1660 kids were going through the same hallway at the same time?
“whether they were tebowing or praying or all tying their shoes, the hallway isnt a good place to do it, and they were stopped. how horrible.”
So you’d support kids being suspended for tying their shoes?
You’ve got to be kidding!! They suspend kids for praying but they don’t for hazing, bullying, or other serious offenses against fellow students or teachers. This is ridiculous. I’d like to see someone try to stop me from praying or giving my Lord and Savior praise for something. The school administration should be ashamed of themselves.
they werent praying. they were tebowing.
This was over kill because the school is afaid of repurcussions from the ACLU, no kidding about it. The kids never should have been suspended. Because they assumed the kids were being religious they were kicked out. If the students were Muslim and facing east – no one would dare interfear.
What has our trust in God country come to when our children are kicked out of school for mimicking a NFL player, who believes in God and does not have to be afraid to show it and does on the field.
These people are the sick ones not our children.
Muslim kids have more respect about where and when they pray, so as not to bother anyone else around them. If the kids were Muslim they would have been more respect to other peoples need.
So you don’t have a problem with kids worshiping a football as if he was a god.
As the population grows, the number of limpwrist softhanded educated idiots running the organizations increases. This is where socialism takes over folks.
“Educated Idiots”? That clearly doesn’t apply to you. Not the first part anyway.
Sooo im not an educated idiot… Uh thanks, I guess… You’re not a girl by any chance? Just asking…
I say we Occupy Riverhead High!! We’ll need about 60-65,000 beer swillin football fans. We’ll Tebow in the parking lots. We’ll Tebow in the stadium. We’ll Tebow in the halls!!! BYOB.
I’m Chuck Norris’ Chin, and I approve this message. HIYAH!!!
We’ll tebow on the beaches. We’ll tebow on the hills and in the streets, and should our school be taken over by the evil administrators, we’ll Tebow off campus. We will never cease Tebowing.
in 50 years timtebowism will be a federally recognized religion; and the christian scientoligists shall mock them.
Most of you seem to already have forgotten what high school kids are like…
We have only heard the students side of the story, you know those young innocent minds that are only interested in praying and doing their schoolwork, oh and telling the absolute truth as well…. (sarcasm!) Cause you know with high school students the truth is more important than covering your own ass.
Second they knew they were causing a commotion, read his damm comment, “We figured at the most we would just be told to stop”. Kind of implies they knew they were doing something wrong, just didn’t think the consequences would be that severe. You remind me of those parents who believe their kids can do no wrong.
agreed. Kids never do anything wrong. The teachers are out to get the kids. You know that pay check is almost worth what you get paid for what teachers do. Teachers get paid pennies for the amount of work that they actually do compared to other professions.
It doesn’t imply that they knew they were doing something wrong, it implies that they felt what they were doing doesn’t warrant any punishment. I say we have a national “Tebow” moment in protest of this stupid punishment handed to these students. It was probably the quietest the school has been all year, embrace it.
Truthfully, nobody commenting here was actually at the school when it happened, so we can’t say how much of an obstruction this really was. We don’t know the width of the hallway aisles, all we know is that someone was foolish enough (or speculated) that there were 40 people that did it. I find it incredibly odd that an EXACT 40 was counted. Not 39, or 41, but dead on 40. This tells me that it’s a fabricated story from the start.
first they were not praying and tebowing is nothing sorry to bust your bubble but tebow not a god and tebowing is just stupid tebowing not Evan a real word what this was was some kids that wanted to go home and not stay in school so they could play their xbox or wii or ps3 and look what happens they get their pic on the web diva drama queens that’s what they are if they want to be on their knees let them scrub the toilets
Don’t be a moron. Also, learn how to spell EVEN. What, are you an inbred redneck too?
Damn it’s called periods man!!!! Use them you uneducated f**k!!!!
man one of them dudes was me id own that school when i got done with them i swear this country suppose to be a free country but u can’t pray where u want u can’t say what is on your mind without getting in some kind of trouble this country is going to hell in a hand bag that’s no joke
They weren’t praying they were tebowing. You wouldn’t have been one of those dudes, since you aren’t even kewl enough to know what tebowing is.
Jesus Christ, does everything turn into christian persecution?
Wonder what the school would have done if they were not white kids? Can’t suspend a minority for the same stupid reasons, you would have a “racial” incident on your hands.
Yeah. Non-white kids never get suspended in our post-racial society. I’m so glad that whole civil rights thing has been resolved. These well-heeled caucaisans have it rough.
So are you all able to read or what? The student’s were not suspended for “Tebowing” per se, but for the fact that what they did created what the school felt was a potentnally dangerous obstruction in the halls. Even if the school was wrong, you have to argue with the actual REASON the school acted as it did. Quit making this about Tebowing, praying or anything else. If they had been break dancing, pretending to be wax figures or acting like ninja turtles, if they caused a blockage in the hallways, they would have gotten the same thing.
Anyway, let’s see if these Christian young men handle their ‘persecution’ biblically, or if they go whining to the courts as some of you are suggesting. Wimps!
The definition of obstruction in a hallway situation is very vague. One person in the hallway is an obstruction.”Potentially” dangerous is also vague, as it implies a possibility, which is also not concrete. If someone tripped (which wouldn’t be possible because all of the students were kneeling), and got hurt, then there is something to discuss. There is POTENTIAL danger every day that we wake up, whether in our own houses, or when we leave the house. Please people, let’s punish the crime, not the POTENTIAL of an incident
United States is the new Nazi Germany. No common sense and an absolute obedience to bureaucratic rules regardless how stupid they are.
dont block the hallways is a stupid bureaucratic rule?
Stangmark, you are thinking on an obsurd plane right now. How do you know the hallways were impassable? If a school is not designed to fit 40 students in it’s halls, then this may be a concern for the Dept of public safety. If the school is designed appropriately, the 40 students is hardly a dangerous obstacle. Again, if they were such an obstacle, how in the world could you ever have 40 students plus their locker doors opened at the same time without being a seroius hazard? Maybe we should look into the school’s design, and close it down for safety reasons, or, better yet, shut your pie hole
RU, Strangemark has a point. You’re being absurd by comparing kids on the side of the hallway opening their lockers with kids strewn across the middle of the hallway.
Schools were designed to let kids be able to access their lockers at various points during the day, not to have 40 kids just stopping in the middle of the hallway.
You call them kids. They are living breathing human beings able to express their beliefs just as you are… Whats your problem…
If they had put down prayer mats and faced east while they did this, the school would be rededicating the science lab as their prayer space. The ACLU would make sure of it.
They wouldn’t have put down prayer mats in the middle of the hallway. Muslims have more respect for themselves and those around them to pose that much of a nuisance.
By nuisance you mean blowing up a coffee shop in the middle of the afternoon when kids are just getting out of school. Ya just stop while you’re behind.
Oh my God you’re a d-bag. Yeah, all Muslims like to blow stuff up! WTF!
You must be retarded or just ignorant… In no way shape or form was I saying anything of the sort… It was a rebuttal you idiot to a previous statement you idiot… I know its probably hard for someone of your brain capacity to comprehend that… Good luck falling out of bed tomorrow…
Oh, I’m sorry Dumbass. Your “rebuttal” was in reference to Muslims and their style of worship, which you equated to blowing something up. Perhaps you can understand my confusion. As for being retarded, the two college degrees I have didn’t come from special ed. colleges, although if they had, I imagine our mascot would have been a baboon’s ass named Mike.
Mike, by your own account, “kids” don’t go to school. Unless, you retract your statement earlier, and have the same common understanding that teenage human beings are often called kids for the sake of simplifying the content of the statement being made as the rest of the forum. Perhaps you should live by the same standards you try to hold others to.
Let me guess… Hmmm… You’re a virgin…
This is just retarded. So a little research I think I found the head mans email write him. Make something happen and write.

There are more serious issues in the schools and they are worried about something as simple as this? Appropriate battles need to be fought. I work in the school system and this is one of the crazier things I’ve seen. It all deals with administration and the personal feelings of some of the parents. There are many administrators out there who forgot what it is like to be a teacher or a child but make issues like this political. As stated, they need to pick there battles like more funding for special education and teacher raises instead of making examples out of a handful of young people. So they broke school policy. That happens everyday by many students. Do all students get caught? Do all students get in trouble? Depending upon the person or who catches them, it all depends upon the circumstance. The school system is already overburdened. Why should they hurt themselves further by giving themselves bad press?
if 40 kids made it a daily ritual to block the hallways at your school you’d do nothing? nice job.
Oh, so now it’s a daily ritual? I’m amazed at the many ways you can twist this to make it sound better for your personal stance.
And, for the record, if it were a daily ritual, accommodations would be made, and we’d see how little an obstacle it really is. Get a freaking life, toolbox
Evidently Tebow and his kin have never read Matthew 6:5-6. Look it up!
VERY GOOD point this as turned into a joke . mocking GOD
using scripture to make YOUR point hmmmmm careful you might be mocking God too…. you might want to read the whole Book,,, you know , corporate prayer,, honoring Him in ALL things,,,, not being ashamed of Him and He will not be ashamed of you,,,, that kind of stuff…just saying
so…is god honored by proxie then? at issue isnt tebow honoring god. at issue is those kids honoring tebow. they werent praying. if they werent praying, it’s mocking god to pretend they were. and i dont think any christian should encourage the mockery of god.
Could it be, they were neither praying, or worshipping Tebow, but simply doing a trendy pose? God forbid it could be that simple, aye?
By not giving God the proper respect of capitalizing the word, you have mocked God as well. Go to church, you heathen
It’s not mocking people. You wouldn’t understand unless you have a relationship with Jesus. When you love someone so much you want to shout it from the roof tops. That’s how much he loves Jesus. If you don’t like it, turn off your TV. It’s still a free country, for a little while at least! More power to him, keep spreading the Word Tebow!
at issue isnt tebow honoring god. at issue is those kids, and others like them, honoring tebow. they werent praying. if they werent praying, it’s mocking god to pretend they were. and i dont think any christian should encourage the mockery of god.
Evidently, you and your kin haven’t read Matthew 28:18-20. Look it up!
Crazy, Just like the nine years old that was suspended for telling his teacher she was cute. How stupid is that? The schools have worse things that they should be worried about. Administrator do not use commend since.
what is commend since?
Common sense now you look like a fool. I guess you don’t either.
http://riverheadlocal.com/local-news-content/3989-tebowing-student-we-thought-it-would-be-funny
C’Mon MAN! As a former resident of Riverhead and at the moment I’m glad it’s former! Please school officals think before you leap! So I can’t wait to see what the NFL will do, inform Tebow that he is setting a bad example and will be fined if he continues! I could give a LONG list of sport figures who have set the WRONG example. I’m so confused by your message to these young people, I hope it will be OK with you if I pray for you and your school…
in todays nfl your long list would all get fines.
A good lawsuit , brought by the boys and their parents against the school and school district will clear the heads of the teachers, principal and school district.
Would the ACLU be interested? Schools would think twice about suspension if more parents and student sued. I’m all for using school district funds to defend stupid decisions made by administors.
what can they sue for? The violated policies by disrupting the flow of the students to class. They were warned once before and did it again. It caused 40 other students to join in. This is a clear violation of school policies. What if a fire started and kids had to get out? The hall way would be congested and students would not be able to get out. People like you is what is wrong with today’s society. Schools are not out to get children. They do something wrong they deserve the punishment. You are why teachers and administrators have problems with students in class, you do not care what your children do. Your child probably has never done anything wrong in school? Right. The teacher really hates them. The teacher comes to work every do to just offend your child.
OK I get it blocked the Hallway , Safety issue . But What I dont think suspension was the answer. But the one thing I feel needs to be said to the Kids is that If you want to tebow then do do it in a ordinarily manor, even form a line, so people can get around you . Also if you not taking a knee to actually pray . then DONT do it , this should cut down on the crowd . it is not the football prayer you should be doing this for, it is the Lord. dont treat it as a JOKE .
so…big deal.doesnt matter what they were doing. doesnt matter why. restricting access to a public facility is illegal. the one young mans greatest failure was when he said they were told to stop before and figured the worst that would happen if they kept violating state law is that they would only get told to stop. it’s simple, really. they have a right to their religion, but not if it interferes with the right of another to get to their class on time. and if their religous rituals create a safety hazard to others, they should not be tolerated. also, assuming their christian, if they are tebowing as homage to tim tebow, isnt that idolatry.
Restricting access is a vague term. One person can restrict access. Can you cite for me the statute that states kneeling in a hallway is illegal? To me, it looks like they’re displaying the pose of Rodin’s “The thinker”, which would then be considered an appreciation of art. Why is it that, just because Tim Tebow is a religious zealot, because someone strikes a pose similar to his method of celebration, they are engaged in prayer themselves? What if Tebow did a fist-bump? Does that make it reigion based? Please think before you spout your idiotic thoughts.
RU Read the link posted above this was the forth time they did this. They were warned to stop previously and they continued to do it. They were suspended for insubordination(this can also get you fired in the real world).
No Vagueness at all they were told to stop they didn’t, they then cry about getting punished.
So they went from getting warned–four times, apparently– to getting suspended? Did the teachers or administrators not consider, say, detention after the first or second warning?
I got to say this is freakin crazy that kids get suspended for Tebowing, It was a harmless Joke and they got suspended for it, thats just plane stupid. Teachers and staff are suspending kids who aren’t really doing anything bad, yet they leave bullys to hurt, humiliate and abuse other kids in school. This school need it system checked and probably a new staff to monitor whats good and bad.
you should go back to school to learn grammar. Which plane are you talking about? The flat “object” that is made up of three points that continues for ever that is talked about in geometry or the plane that flies in the sky?
spelling and grammar are two different concepts of written communication. although inter-related, the two are not one in the same, and should not be labeled as such. although misspelling a word may render a sentence grammatically incorrect, if the proper spelling would have made the sentence grammatically correct, it is a spelling error, not a grammatical one.
perhaps the error is in fact yours, since (although not commonly used) one of the definitions of plane is: thoroughly. what he wrote then becomes “thats just thoroughly stupid”, which then renders the phrase grammatically correct (barely). punctuation would still be another matter altogether, though. and yes, i’m sure the author meant plain. nice catch on your part, that.
your definition of plane (geometry) is incorrect (or at best, incomplete). a plane (geometry) is not made up of three points. the number of points within a plane are infinite. although a plane can be defined mathematically using any three points contained within the plane (or any one point and two vectors: or any one point and a normal vector), the definition of plane (geometry) is: the two dimensional analogue of a point (zero-dimensions), a line (one-dimension) and a space (three-dimensions).
and yes, when blogging i dont capitalize or use apostrophes in contractions. my grammar can sometimes be poor, and i’ve been known to misspell a word or two. i’m not perfect, just like everyone else.
Not only are you not perfect. Nobody is… You need to lay off the Kool-Aid…
Ohhhh there we go!I knew there was a sunday morning teacher on here.
Christians and sunday morning teacher…OMFG…these ppl are a joke
Schools like many other things are out of control. They are super sensitive to everything and suspend people for offenses that are ridiculous. Teachers and school administrators are trying to be wardens rather than educators. It used to be important to provide a quality education and teach discipline. Now it is like a prison and the teachers are the security guards and the principal is the warden. The test scores prove that both the students and educators are off track. If Tebowing is the worst thing that happens at that school, they have had a pretty good year!!!
Suspended give me a break! These are teenage kids taking a successful, young, positive NFL quarterback as their role model and haveing fun with it! Who would you rather have them take after Tony Montana the drug lord from the movie scarface?! I think we Should be happy that “Tebowing” is the worst thing that they are doing. Not punishing them for it!
OK look, the kids knew that what they were doing was getting reactions from lots of other kids. They weren’t “praying”, they were causing disruptions to the flow of traffic in the hallway between classes. Was it funny? Yes it was funny. Did allot of other kids think it was funny? Yes they thought it was funny. The kids had been warned about doing it before. They were told to stop. They didn’t stop, so the school had to get their attention. ISS is in school suspension. It’s not wasting tax dollars, because the kids are already at school. If the behavior had been allowed to go on, who knows what it might of led to. Someone tripping over another student and hitting their head because the halls suddenly clogged with a bunch of clowns “Tebowing”. Anyway…..The Joke ran its course and got squashed before it got out of hand.
Do you answer your own questions? Yes you do. Do you need spelling lessons? Yes you do. Do 40 students cause an obstruction? In a house, yes, but in a properly equipped school hallway, that’s obsurd. The real issue at hand should be that if 40 students cannot safely stop in a hallway without being a MAJOR obstruction, the school needs to be evaluated for safety concerns.
i just love it when snotheads critique another’s spelling, then spell absurd as obsurd. classic. perhaps you should answer your own questions as well. go to your local high school and ask forty kids to tebow in the same general area in the hallway during the break between classes. then come back and let us all know how much of an obstruction they were. i’m genuinely curious to know your opinion afterward.
Aagain, inserted assumptions (the same general area) to feed your own argument. Where does it say they were in the same area other than the fact they were in the same building?
Umm… the constitution state we have the freedom of assembly? Example flash mobs in the middle of a busy airport. The constitution also states it is the highest law of the land. So the school had no power to suspend the students. I think the prinicpal needs to go back through high school again…
Actually, the school is acting in loco parentis. While the students are at school the school has the right to act as their parent. Meaning while students are on school property they have no rights. Their lockers can be searched, the school can tell them how to dress and act. If they don’t follow the rules the get punished.
OK Hitler… First… I decide what is right for my child… Not some 1st. year out of college… 2nd go back to china or russia. Lower case on purpose…
To “Tebow” is to kneel in homage to God. Good for those who chose to Tebow.
So says you. It is your perception of the meaning. To me, it is simply kneeling, or doing “the thinker” pose. Stop giving all the credit to Tebow, please
if an atheist tebows are they paying homage to the christian god?
if a mormon crosses themselves are they paying homage to the catholic god?
if a lutheran kneels and faces mecca 5 times a day are they paying homage to the islamic god.
i dont think so.
i dont think anyone who isnt christian should tebow, and i dont think christians should call praying tebowing. are you really ok with a fellow christian saying i am going to tebow for you. does it even sound a little bit right for the pastor to lead the congregation in tebowing. i think it’s great that he is open with his faith. but when we over-evangelicize, we risk the homage to god being transferred to ourselves. if tim tebow is such a good christian, i would hope he would start calling it prayer, and take a stand that others should keep praying, but stop calling it tebowing.
The school has a responsibility to provide a safe enviornment for education for all the kids. The kids were causing disruptions in the hall. Oh, and flash mobs are annoying. Thats a poor example.
NERD…
They’re not “tebowing” for god they’re doing it to be funny.
Ya weird… Their kids… NERD… Not only that one of them will probably be your Boss one day so lighten up NERD…
The real crime is that these kids are stupid enough to tebow, and the fact that we use it as a verb. It’s no wonder China is beginning to surpass us.
Bet the school was run by butthurt Charger fans
If you are seeking an older man or a younger beautiful girl who can give you real love, I want to tell you a nice place –Put “Ageles” and “sDate” together, then you will get the url. a nice place for seeking age le ss love. Feel comfortable with the possibility of starting an age-gap relationship in a community where people think just like you. Leave behind the embarrassment and annoyance of “everything to everyone” dating sites. It is a focused community that goes beyond dating. With blogs, chat, instant messaging, and many other social networking features, seeks to evolve the concept of meeting people online.
I hav’nt laughed that hard in a long time. Thanks man… I hope you were joking otherwise you need some serious help…
you people need to WAKE UP! this is SERIOUS. these kids were tboning each other in the middle of the hallway! this sort of deviant homosexual behavior does not belong anywhere, let alone in schools! these heathens should have been EXPELLED! god will punish them.
WOW you have issues.
You need help…
Once the kids, acting as kids do were told to stop. There doing it again earned them a suspension. Argue the severity of the punishment if you want, but punishment needed to occurr. And yes we all agree it wasnt that bad but once you are told to stop and dont case closed, you’re guilty!
This school is run by jackasses
Can’t effectively teach our kids
Can’t even keep toliet paper in the restrooms
Most of the teaching is done by unstable people
And this is the the best response that this school can come up with
WTF
When I was in High school their was a group of about 20 kids who would pray every morning before school in the middle of the quad. They started with about 20 and ended their prayers with about 200. This was way before Tebow… I dont see the problem expressing your faith in a peaceful way. Just so you know I wasn’t one of them but now I wish I was… It takes a lot of guts to do something you know you’re gonna get s**t for from a bunch of assholes who may not believe or are to chicken shit to admit they believe the same thing you do… God Bless all of you whoever you believe in… Merry Christmas or whatever…
Another case of schools in a liberal state being run by out of touch people. Whether it is tebowing or prosecuting a seven year old for sexual harassment the more I see from people like this the more I believe it is time for abandoning the ignorant to there own deceptions. That way we can hasten the removal of such idiots from a civilized common sense society.
I could not agree more… Well done…
Oh good Lord!!!!
I’m amazed at how many have jumped ont he band wagon and insisting these kids were punished because they were praying. Yes when Tebow does this on the field he is actually sending a thanks to God. But really these kids are doing it because its cool and probably arent even aware that he is actually praying. Just like anything else thats popular at different times they are copying a hot athlete. Bottom line is they thought it was cool.
Im amazed that you think kids trying to something cool is weird… Its been been going on since the dawn of time. NERD…

This school, like most schools, has a Code of Conduct and a step level of consequences. 1st offense equals a specific consequence; 2nd offense equals a little bit more significant consequence, 3rd offense, etc. No one knows if these kids have a previous discipline history. If they have a prior offense or offenses of insubordination and/or disruptions, already been spoken to, already had detentions, etc, then 1 day suspension in this case is appropriate. They were warned prior to being to doing this, what continuing this disruption would get them. This photo shows them in front of a stairwell, which is not very wide & empties into a very small vestibule that then empties into the hallway . In a video posted earlier, it shows them in a hallway with many students gathering to join them and they were blocking the hallway as the video shows others could not get by. So, this picture in front of the stairs is not the first and only time they did their fun. The issue is not their right to pray as they clearly said they were just having fun & they thought it would be cool. They were joking around after they were told not to do that anymore. Had they chosen to do this is the gym or in the cafeteria, or in the lounge across from the cafeteria, I think they would not have been suspended.
Sorry not trying to ignore you… Just reading more intelligent feedback… If our founding fathers had listened to such rubbish such as you are spitting out… You wouldnt be breathing free air right now my friend…
I bet if it was a bunch of rag heads praying to allah, the rest of the hallway would have had to go around them as to not disturb them.
More power to the kids, keep it up and disobey your ignorant rulers.
You really are an ignorant ass… To answer your question Yes I would go about my business and leave them to theirs… I dont agree with their beliefs but I respect a persons right to choose…
Sheep Nation strikes again! Bah, Bah, Baaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh!
