Wanna Have Led Zeppelin’s ‘Black Dog’ Ruined Forever? Watch This NBA Promo

This is apparently the “Special Open to the 2011 NBA Playoffs” for ABC/ESPN broadcasts. It features former (current?) Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger singing the first song from Led Zeppelin IV, “Black Dog”  with Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Experience as the backing group and believe you me, it is a bloody awful.

Shame on Jason Bonham. With this atrocity, he has committed a heinous crime against all that is great about Led Zeppelin and disgraced his father’s good name. In essence, he took the musical equivalent of a big, steaming dump all over his father’s legacy and legend with this abomination. I don’t care how good-looking Pussycat Doll Lady might be: this ain’t right, man. Nope. Not right at all. I think Robert, John and Jimmy should get together and send Jason a crate of vodka and let nature take its course.

I am not a fan of this version of Black Dog either. However hoping that Jason Bonham will die drinking an overdose of vodka is a little extreme…

Wow! I was so impressed that I performed a web search to see who Sanford the vocals. There will only be one Led Zepplin, but this intro rocked!!

I’ve seen the Mighty Zep a number of times in their prime as well as listening to them for the past 40 od years. I think Nicole kicks ass and Jason’s and his mates are spot-on. Get off your high horse weedspeed and go back down into your mother’s basement.

having been a fan of Zepp’s since their first lp, i think that she rocked it. i have seen countless cover bands(usually long haired white dudes) attempting to emulate Zepp and not captured the raw intensity of it as well as she did. just because she made her fame in pop doesn’t discount the product. since Plant, Page and Jones had to sign off on her covering this, i’m guessing that they are okay with it.

Ruined forever? I don’t think so.
    But she stinks.

She’s SOOOOO not up to singing that.
CANNOT pull it off AT ALL.
A high school kid could sing it just as well.
Anything over what she sings with that silly group of hers is over her head.
