To say that Denver Nuggets center Chris “Birdman” Anderson is a colorful character would be a drastic understatement – hey, he is the first and only member of the Sportress of Blogitude’s “It Looks Like They Combed Their Hair With A Carameled Apple” Hall of Fame – even more so after he debuted his incredibly noticeable brand new tattoo, which consists of “Free Bird” emblazoned across his neck.
As stated above, the Birdman’s new tattoo is certainly something. All I can say is it’s a good thing Andersen did his due diligence and found a tattoo artist who doesn’t ink tattoos backwards. That’s always a win.
One last observation: is it just me, or does the new tat kind of create the illusion which causes the Birdman to resemble one of those Padaung women with the neck rings from National Geographic? I don’t know, maybe it’s just me.

I am not an old man, so I will try not to sound like one, too much. But, my thoughts on this tattoo remind me of something my grandfather would have said.
Chris Andersen obviously procured this tattoo believing that he would never have to sit in a job interview for the rest of his life. I understand that he is a self-fabricated rockstar, and he thinks that the tattoos complement his image. He must also assume that he will be retiring a rich man, and staying that way. He must assume that he will have millions when he retires, and will not frivolously blow his money9on things like tattoos and drugs) like so many other retires sports stars, who fall so low that they have to sell their Championship rings to the guys on Pawn Stars. He better hope that the few final years that he has in the NBA provide him with a LOT of money. He better pray for great financial investment advice, and trustworthy management. Because, if he ever has to get back into the job market, the tattoos will not lend him much help. Not even Sportscenter will want him as a commentator, as no one will will want to see the “neck sleeve” sticking up above a white collar and tie. If he is lucky, he might get a place on “Celebrity Rehab” right next to Dennis Rodman.

WOW – that is some serious ink. I doubt he will live to be an old man, perhaps not even middle-aged, so, we don’t need to worry about him and his money in his golden years. He is a free spiirit as well as one hell of a rebounder and shot-blocker. God bless the Birdman!!!

I love his tattoos!! i am a tattoo fanatic so i think it is pretty freakin hot!!!! yea maybe some people think its ugly or stupid or just plain wierd to be tatted up so heavily but i think they should sit on their asses and give the kid a break and let him be him!!!! I luv what he’s done, his past touches a sore spot of my own I know what it feels like to not come from nothing and be abused its a terrible thing and the process leaves you damaged. It dnt matter if he got a million tattoos it his life let him live it. I pray that he has alot if years in the nba. I see nothing wrong with his tattoos. So many players in the NBA are all “tatted up”..it’s just unfortunate that you can’t see them as well.
Chris has selected very colorful tattoo design; he is looking cool with his new tattoo. But I don’t think that “FREE” is required in this tattoo design.
