A rising online star is in our midst and her name is Brittany Umar. The comely comedienne is the host of “The Nooner,” an three-minute online sports show that airs at noon (duh!) Monday through Friday on SNY.tv (SportsNet New York) as well as the website of the New York Daily News.
Umar, a graduate of Rutgers, has been talking sports since high school, when she would do report scores while doing the morning announcements.
For Umar, fun is ripping Omar Minaya, telling Plaxico Burress jokes and taking shots at the Mets – and she does all of the above and more as host of the daily online show, The Nooner, featured on SNY.tv and the Daily News Web site.
“It’s just fun,” Umar said of her daily three-minute riff on the sports topics du jour. “It’s really cool to do something enjoyable.”
Indeed. And don’t underestimate Umar as just another pretty face. She’s more than happy to fire off some zingers at the expense of New York sports teams.
Via the New York Daily News:
ON ELLIOT SPITZER AND HIS WIFE ATTENDING A YANKEE GAME (Aug. 26):
“That’s right, Mr. and Mrs. Client No. 9. Our former horny governor was so excited to be out in public that he tried to order a hooker from a hot dog vendor, but just couldn’t afford those crazy new Yankee Stadium prices.”
ON DAVID WRIGHT’S HUGE HELMET (Sept. 2):
“Wright said he’s happy wearing the helmet as he knows it will soften the blow when the Mets fall flat on their faces again next season.”
Double zing! This girl’s got some moxie, I tells ya! You can see Miss Umar in action right here.
You know, after watching some of the episodes, I realized that this is what Sports Soup would be like if it had a hot chick as host and was, you know, funny.
